FAQs
What is Dark Fibre?
Dark fibre is in essence ownership of the fibre cable for the term of the contract allowing for total control of the fibre. See also Dark Fibre for more detail and Technology & Security page.
How do you stop rats from chewing through the cable?
The cable is a specially designed armoured cable and is 100% rodent proof.
Does the cable effect the workings of the sewers?
No. The main purpose of the sewers are as a waste water network. We work in close partnership with the water authorities and there is a rigorous process to ensure that the sewers are suitable to take the cable.
What can the fibre be used for?
The fibre can be used for anything. We provide the dark fibre and you provide the equipment, so you determine the bandwidth you need.
Can H2O Networks design the network?
We build point to point bespoke networks and also have a specialised design team who can design a network to suit your requirements.
What cable do you install?
G652 D single mode fibre is installed as standard.
Are your networks built to a specific standard?
All out networks are built to ITU standard – the global standard for communications networks.
How is the fibre presented?
The fibre is presented within an existing LAN cabinet or fibre box as an LC type connector.
How is the network tested?
On completion of the build the circuit is OTDR tested and the results are provided to the end user.
